Ways To Freshen Up Your Wardrobe

Heres some tips that I think will help when wanting to add to your wardrobe, along with fun ways to shop without spending to much.

1. First start off by getting rid of old clothes that have not been worn in a while, and that realistically probably never will be. You can sell them and use the cash towards shopping for some new things, or else donating is a great way to help others.

2. Bring in items that you like but don't know what to match with or want to make a new outfit using. You can ask a personal shopper what they think would go well with it, and try on multiple outfits all based around this one key item.

3. Go online and get inspiration from store sites. You can look at what the retailers put together for looks on the models online and transfer that to your own look using similar items that you already have.

4. Small accessories are a great way to vamp up something you already have. For example, take a little black dress that you've worn before and just looks plain to you now, and add to it. Something like a colored belt or statement jewelry can liven the dress.

5. Future thought: when shopping think about if what you are looking at is a one season item that is going to be out of style almost right after being in vs a forever look that can be taken from season to season. Having a versatile piece that's classy can last a lifetime!

My Life as a Personal Shopper

I've been a personal shopper at J Crew for almost two years now and have people ask me all the time what a personal shopper does. Well the professional definition would say I'm a shopping expert that works with clients through in store events and appointments. To me, I feel like it's the opportunity to build a bond with customers that frequently come into our store and and create a long term relationship like a friendship. It's my job to know what will look good on who and be able to help put together outfits and use creativity that everyone might not think of on their own. You have to have a passion for the store that you work at and the merchandise they sell, as well as really enjoy working with people. I've been obsessed with shopping since I was a little girl, so love that I can have that be part of my job and can share it with others!
